I have already belabored you with how much I love to paint big, so I will not dwell on that aspect. I love this painting. It flowed through me as if I was some kind of medium. I use this palette a lot, so that was not so different, but the composition and application of color was spontaneous and I have rarely felt this free in the process of painting. There was little hesitation. My studio mates provided input which was taken and I am so happy with this piece that I think it will become the first of a series. Thank you for viewing my blog.

The idea for this "triptych" has been percolating in my mind for some time.. It (they) are not finished, but almost. I am unsure as to marketing them as a trio or individually. I intend to put a resin on each one when I am done. I am also unsure as to signing them, because they can be placed in various positions. Advice is welcome. All of the Navaho Daydreams paintings are currently showing at the Dutch Art Gallery.There is now only one left of this tryptic.

I am not sure this is improved. I spent most of the day working on her. Portraiture is not my strong suit. I lifted her nose about a half inch, worked with the shadows on the nose, adjusted the lips, added iridescent white to the eyelids and gave her some color as well as some beads in her hair. I need to put this aside and ponder this for a while and start something new. Comments welcome.

This painting was inspired by a photo that I took while on a hike up the trail to Chimney Rock in Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. It is also one of my first forays into the use of acrylics. I really enjoyed painting it. It is going to be donated to Alley's House.

Pigeons at Rancho de Chimayo 16x20 x2 SOLD

This painting was inspired by a photo that I took at Rancho de Chimayo. These pigeons were drinking from the stream that flows through there. I worked on it and could not get the impact that I was striving for, so I put it in the growing "contemplation" pile. I picked it up recently and made some additions and am overall pleased with the outcome.

"I love to singa..." 8x10 Oil on linen board SOLD

I wonder if anyone remembers this cartoon? I was a cartoon watching fiend when I was a child and this was old even back then. It is about a family of owls. The mother owl is teaching her little owlettes to sing and play classical music, but this little guy wanted to sing jazz. The rest of the family was horrified and the little owl kept getting into trouble and ran away from home. He eventually got on the radio and sang his little ditty, "I want to singa... about the moona and the juna and the springa....." His family missed him back at home and were so excited to hear him that they started to dance to his song. This silly cartoon really resonates with me and it was fun to paint. SOLD
